2018 is around the corner and it came at us a little too fast. I don’t know about the rest of you, but 2017 wasn’t that bad of a year for me. Of course, it had its moments but in the end, I have grown and accomplished a few things:
1. Began to really work on my relationship with God
2. GOT MY LICENSES!!
3. Learned that it’s okay to be by myself sometimes
4. Started a connection with family on my dad’s side
5. Worked my second summer at Citi Trends
6. Started the journey for #riseofRosier
As I get mentally, physically and emotionally ready for the new year, I’d like to share with you all my resolutions:
1. Continue the growth on my relationship with God: let’s be honest, without Him I won’t get far
2. Graduate with at least a 3.0: academically I have fallen off, but all 2018 I’m ready to make this comeback (12.18.18 🎓😎)
3. Lose a few pounds: freshman 15 is real ya’ll, don’t let anyone tell you different
4. Continue to worry less on the things I can’t control and more on the things I can control: “trust in God with all heart, lean not on your own understanding” – Proverbs 3:5
5. Continue to connect with my dad’s side: family is everything and means more to me than people realize
6. Work on post-grad plans: I love Citi Trends, but I didn’t attend school for 16 and a half years for nothing and I don’t want to be working there forever
7. Save and budget my money better: after graduation, I enter the real world and I definitely won’t survive with my current spending habits
8. Disconnect from any toxic situation or people in my life: always good to have people in your life who will build you up, not tear you down
9. My relationship grows and stays strong: I don’t know about you all, but I’m dating to one day marry #WhatIsYouDoing
10. Start back reading: knowledge is power
11. Continue to work on #riseofRosier and then some: writing has always been my gift, and I need to stop letting it go to waste
“New year, new me” I remember hearing that back in middle and high school. Even myself had the phrase in my head. Really, January 1st is just another day, but to many its a chance to start over. It’s a chance to set new goals for yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that, but try to set goals for yourself that are realistic for YOU! If you have to, set a goal inside a goal. For example, my second resolution is to graduate with a 3.0. My inside goal for that is to make A’s, B’s and only 1 C if I must have any at all. I know myself well enough that I always have that one class I struggle in and that C just happens no matter how hard I work. That 1 C is realistic for me, but if I end up with all A’s and B’s then I have exceeded my own expectations. Try not to set so many goals that you overwhelm yourself. Set a goal that will cause you to challenge yourself a little. Lastly, whatever the resolutions that you decide to pursue, reward yourself. Remind yourself that you’re proud and you’ve done well.
Instead of “new year, new me”, try “new year, revised me”. Worldwide, I just the resolution of better days. I pray that everyone has a great and prosperous year. Change for yourself, not for others.
Go for it. Comment your new year resolutions below.
