Out of all the 21 years that I’ve been alive so far, one of my biggest accomplishments has been me getting my driver licenses. The process was far from easy. I had to get doctor’s permissions, go through a simulation to be sure I didn’t need any special equipment in my car, lessons with my uncle and a driving school and can’t forget the renewal of my permit three times. The struggle was real! However, it was worth it because in May 2017 I officially became a licensed driver!
It’s only been about a month and a few days that I’ve been driving, but I’ve done a lot of passenger and back seat riding. Something I’ve noticed is how impatient people are. I’m still a beginner so in due time, I could become one of those people. However, I’m not there yet. You can be driving on a four laneroad and someone needs to turn left, instead of just waiting, the person right behind them chooses to go around them. Same scenario will happen if the driver is going to slow, but in that case it’s more understandable. I CANNOT STAND when someone goes around you just for you to look them in the eye at the same stop light. You did that for what? 🙄
Patience. Before I even started driving and even to this day, I hear, “You’re not only driving for yourself, but for everyone else too.” Not everyone out here pays attention to what’s going on or they just get easily distracted. I’m loving that I’m able to get to where I need to without having to depend on anyone, but driving on those roads can get overwhelming sometimes. Every morning I just ask God to continue to protect me on these roads.
For anyone reading this that’s going to be new to the roads, here’s a piece of advice: Watch your speed limit, be patient, leave your destinations in a good amount of time (getting there late is better than never getting there: (words of my Papa) and of course,
